after the biology exam, she had to help stack up the chairs and desks in the hall, along with the other 83 people who had just finished. after stacking about 7 chairs and 5 desks up, she dashes out and waits for the bus. it takes an eternity to arrive and she settles on a seat which isn't exactly comfortable, but she is thankful for the air-conditioning.
into the house and out again. she's off to the beach on the 135 bus. halfway down the route, she meets up with may, who waited nearly an hour. off they go, chatter and banter. it's nice to take the load off their minds.
now, they've reached their stop. they get down and continue their quest for some peace and fun today. emerging from the musty, dreary underground pass, they step onto ground just a few metres away from the sandy shores and determine to have a good time.
may is starving, thus they head towards the nearest fast food restaurant, mcdonald's. it's had a revamp, with a whole new chill-out section. the other section is the same, with minor changes to the menu boards. it looks chic and not so classroom-blackboard-like. they even have new additions, like the fish muggets(nuggets... doesn't quite fit). the service has improved one bit, though. only 2 counters are on duty, even though there's a fair amount of customers. oh well, you can't have everything. one step at a time.
devouring the fishy morsels, they are finally content(but only after they bicker over who should have the last piece-i told you to eat it, may!) they make their way to the nearest bike rental shop and hire 2 "new" bikes, or so they say. upsy-daisy, here we go!
the 2 girls ride into the shade of the sparse forest, she trying to keep up with may and may trying to push her beyond her limits. they talk, they laugh, they sing gaily as they work their legs on the bicycle. it all seems so easy at first, but she starts to tire. lack of exercise, i would say.
there's a special stretch up ahead which seems to be littered with leaves of gold and emerald. it looks like a picture out of autumn but the sun's rays jolts her out of her senses; it's too hot to be autumn. it's still a pretty scene.
striving to continue the journey, she tries her darndest to catch up with may. feeling the wind rush past her ears brings about a soaring feeling to her whole body. it's a little like flying; only you fly because of this 2-wheel contraption. and it's all so natural, she doesn't have to think(except for the turns). she's utterly grateful that she learnt to "fly" at 12.
they cycle and cycle and continue to cycle. and then they make a special stop, near a off-white stone bench which awaits their arrival. looking into the beyond of the sea, everything seems to be calm. it's a fantastic place to take a break, and to keep as a memory of the time spent.
